In small, appropriate doses, mad honey traditionally produces a warm, relaxed sensation, mild lightheadedness, and muscle relaxation, typically felt within 20–60 minutes. It is not a hallucinogen, and effects are generally mild when dosage guidelines are followed.
Start with ¼ to ½ teaspoon on an empty stomach if you’re a first-time user, and wait at least 45–60 minutes before considering more. Do not exceed 1 teaspoon per day. Effects vary by batch, so always start low with a new jar, even if you’ve used mad honey before.

Grayanotoxin concentration depends on altitude, season, and how much a batch has been blended. This is completely normal for a wild, single-origin product — it’s also why we lab-test and publish results for every batch rather than giving one blanket potency claim.
In small, controlled doses, mad honey is generally well tolerated by healthy adults. However, it contains an active compound and should be treated accordingly — overconsumption can cause grayanotoxin poisoning (“honey intoxication”), with symptoms including dizziness, low blood pressure, and irregular heart rhythm.
Mad honey should be avoided by pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, anyone with a cardiovascular condition, and anyone taking blood pressure medication. If you have any medical concerns, consult a healthcare provider before use.
We don’t recommend it. Combining mad honey with alcohol, sedatives, or blood pressure medication can amplify its effects unpredictably. If you take regular medication, speak with a doctor before trying mad honey.
